Im trying to find some information on Norse Shamanism and have found some info on the net but not anythig that can give in depth knowledge of this topic.

Does anybody have any inormation on this topic?

Det er ikke mange som kaller det Norsk sjamanisme, det kan være derfor. Seid og galder(og runer) er vel de verktøyene som er best å søke på. Runer er masse info om på nett og i bøker, men jeg synes til tider at runene er så overanalysert og overtydet at de nesten har mistet sin mening etterhvert. (mitt råd er fagbøker istedet for "new age" bøker om runene...)

I just bought a new set of runes and are going to use them often in my shaman life.

My sprits are telling me to only use one rune at the time in order to give all my spirit power to the rune. Previously I have used three runes at the time, one for the past, one for the present and one for the future. Now I will only use one rune.

The runes playes an important part in a Norse Shamans life.

I just finished the book Sejd 3.0 by Jörgen I Eriksson, who is confirming that shamanis is individualized.

He also confirmed that the drum and the runes are the most important tools for a Norse Shaman.

Jag rekommenderar också Jörgen I Erikssons andra böcker om nordisk shamanism.
Själv har jag förutom Sejd, läst Samisk shamanism, Vandrare i två världar – Samisk shamanism bok 2 och Att bita av ödets trådar – Ett shamanskt manifest, vilka jag varmt rekommenderar.

There are many ways to read the runes.
Classical and more,shall we say , "New Age".

My understanding is that you want people who wants be shamans, to think
like individualists.
But yourself you rely on what the spirits says when you decide what meaning a magic rune should have?

You want people on the sone to create common shamanic definitions about important subjects,but yourself, wanting to become a norse shaman, you make one about how to read runes just like that,and even write it down as a statement?
Its a bit funny.
The first rune I ever picked,has a different meaning for me than for you. How can you read me at all?
Dont we need a common system,almost like a viking tribe?
On the other hand,norse society has changed to extremely comlicated in 1000 years,and some of the meanings maybe have to come in an extended version soon...?

As a non shaman,but a member of the norse society,I rely on the person who offered my the choice to be initially read.
Thats a part of belonging to a given society,to have trust to some systems just like they are.
But my spirits chose that rune for me a long time ago.

I rather try to encourage and listen for the moment.
Also I miss one thing in the tiny traces of norse shamanism there is, and that is a message of love and common understanding for a more modern and complex society.
But i am not so good understanding symbolic ways of talking.
But maybe you can help finding it?

Im a Norse Shaman and I have alot of love.

I suggest you get hold of a drum and some runes and explore the universe and listen to your spirits when you use these magic tools.

This is not entirely wrong, but it is a very simplified understanding of that word. Words change meaning over time, and also the same word may mean very different things, depending on the context in which it is being used.

The meaning of rune
What rune (OE run) means is debatable. There is a long-standing tradition which attributes to it such senses as 'whisper'; 'mystery'; and 'secret', suggesting that the symbols were originally used for magical or mystical rituals. Such associations were certainly present in the way the pagan Vikings (and possibly the Continental Germans) used the corresponding words, but there is no evidence that they were present in Old English.

Modern English rune is not even a survival of the Old English word, but a later borrowing from Norse via Latin.

Det er vel ikke galt i det heletatt... Det er bare et av alternativene - som du skriver. Ikke rart det kunne bety hemmelig når så få kunne lese dem? Jeg vil nesten si det betyr hemmelig den dag i dag - på tross av internett (he he). Alle forskjellige tolkninger av runene gjør at betydning og lyden glemmes. Ja ja, til syvende og sist er alt bare teorier...

Jeg tror egentlig ikke man kan lese fremtiden i noe som helst. Skulle man gjøre det ville det være et alternativ. En sti man har valgt å gå inn på - som man også kan velge å gå ut av. Å trekke runer mener jeg å ha lest var noe som ble gjort inne i familien. Av husbonden. Slik som runebommen også ble brukt i familien. Dette er jo et flott verktøy for å samle familien rundt det som kommer av utfordringer og fremtid.
Fordelen med at verktøyet er litt "åpent for tolkninger" er at da kan man finne den fremtiden man søker i verktøyet. Vi finner ofte det vi leter etter...

Jeg tror våre forfedre hadde sansen for det talte og det nedskrevede. Å uttale noe, presist og med kraft - som i galdring, og det nedskrevede - presise - som i runer. Kanskje handler det om å love seg selv og kreftene noe?

Så nordisk sjamanisme er først og fremst for små,einsarta grupperingar der alle kjenner kvarandre ut og inn?
Korleis skal ein integrere dette i vår "Skal vi danse-alder" der den store tomheten snik seg inn mellom reolane?
Eller der naboen snakker eit språk og tilber ein gud me forkaster eller ikkje forstår?
