"The “Drum of the World” is in Tuva

Tuva became the 248th place in the world playing the host to the “Drum of the World” (or Drum of Peace). The sacred drum has been traveling through the world with the message to “Stop the War between People and Nature” since 2006. This long trip started in Oslo, in Norway. In Tuva, the ceremony of blessing of the drum was performed by the legendary shamanologist, senior worker of the museum of the republic, the 84-year-old Doctor of Historical Sciences, Mongush Kenin-Lopsan.

The last country the drum visited was the Philippines, then the magic instrument of Siberian and Indian shamans – the drum with bells and a beater – came to Russia, accompanied with a representative delegation of shamanists. Tuva, from where the Drum will go on to Japan in July, was not selected for the visit by chance: there has been an active renaissance of shamanism in the republic for the past one and half decades.

Today, there are three shamanic societies in Tuva – “Dungur” (“Drum”), “Adyg Eeren” (“Bear Spirit”) and “Tos Deer” (Nine Heavens) About 300 practicing shamans are associated in these societies. They provide healings perform rituals of “communication with spirits with healing intent”, they work in tourist business, and participate in folklore shows.

The Drum will spend one month traveling through the republic with a retinue of shamans. “This action should help to return the lost traditions of respectful behavior towards environment, the society, and towards other people”, Viktor Nursat, the vice-chairman of the society “Bear Spirit”, explained to the ITAR-TASS representative.

His cultic organization is just finishing the building of a shamanist encampment in Kyzyl – 20 are standing at the location where Tuvan shamans traditionally perform shamanist rituals and ceremonies. This is where a Permanent Center for Study of Traditional Magic Knowledge is planned to be, where shamans from the whole world will conduct international seminars.

International “Drum of the World” will start its travel to the rural areas of Tuva

The international “Drum of the World” of the Norwegian Saami remained in Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva, for almost two weeks.

Today it started out on its trip through the rural districts of Tuva. Western Ulug-Khem and Chaa-Khol districts will be the first to welcome this symbol of the pagans of the world, as told to ITAR-TASS by Kara-ool Dopchun-ool, the head of the shamanic society “Adyg Eeren” (Bear Spirit”), which invited the drum to Tuva.

Until end of July, the drum will visit all the 17 districts of the republic. It is accompanied by a group of Tuvan shamans as well as Dmitri Markov, a disciple of shamanism who came with the drum from Norway.

In every place the sacred drum visits, there are gatherings of believers and the curious.

All of them want to touch the drum to receive blessings and to ask for fulfillment of their wishes. Rituals of purification of sacred places, of unification with nature, rituals of calling on the beneficial spirits and calling down blessings will be performed with the help of the drum in the district centers of the republic for the next two months.

The sacred drum, with bells and a beater, has been traveling through the world since October 2006, with the motto “Stop the War between People and Nature”. The drum started its journey in the capital of Norway, Oslo. The last country where the drum stayed was the Philippines, then the magic instrument of Siberian and Indian shamans came to Russia. Tuva was not selected by chance – the ancient religion has been undergoing a renaissance here for more than 15 years. Kara-ool Dopchun-ool believes that the “Drum of the World” will stimulate interest in the traditional Tuvan shamanism in the world. In his opinion, this drum unites all the pagans of the world, brings blessings to the people, and has a beneficent psychological effect on everybody who touches it.

Tuva became the 248th place of the world that welcomed the “Drum of the World”.

It cannot be ruled out that the drum will stay here until the end of August, because the republic is considered to be “a special region with ancient shamanic traditions”, said Dopchun-ool

Currently there are three shamanic societies active in Tuva – “Dungur” (“Drum”), “Adyg Eeren” (Bear Spirit”), and “Tos-Deer” (“Nine Heavens”), having 300 practicing shamans under their aegis

"Drum of the World is going from Tuva to Khakassia

The drum that is traveling around the world will come to Khakassia from Tuva.

The opening of the international event “Drum of the World” (World Drum”) will take place on August 9 in Abakan in the area of the S.P. Kadyshev Center of Culture and National Creativity.

Then the drum, accompanied by a group of shamans, will travel around the villages of the republic. The international project “World Drum” was invented in 2006 by a Norwegian Birger Mikkelsen, who “sent” the symbolic drum of the Scandinavian Sami around the planet with the motto “Stop the War between People and Nature”. The main goal of this project is international co-operation in the name of protecting nature, water and raw material resources, and respectful behavior towards Mother Earth.

The action “World Drum” was based on the ritual of ancient sages, according to which the new drum is passed from person to person for the purpose of accumulating energy, good wishes and hopes. The drum can then transmit this energy to those who listen to its sound. The action “World Drum” traveled through towns and villages of Tuva, where it helped to bring back the lost traditions of respectful behavior of people towards their natural environment. From August 9 to 15, 2009, the action “World Drum” will take place in Republic Khakassia."

Fra Tuva reiste Verdenstromma til Kansas City US, der vi har forløpige kommentarer:

"It will take us a while to get all the photos gathered up; hundreds were taken at the various ceremonies and events. Also Vickie will be putting together a video with footage from all the events. It was also discussed and/or played on three radio shows and was on TV. We will get you all of this eventually. Kansas City loves the World Drum! We'll wait our turn for the next time! But keep us in mind if you ever have a lull in the schedule. We will always be happy to plan something, even at the last minute.

The World Drum is like Grandmother Spider and is weaving a web around the Earth, making us aware of our connections.

Fra Kansas City reiste Verdenstromma videre til Australia. Der har den vært gjennom ett "lengre" opphold i karantene. Men all takk til både tollmyndigheter og karantenemyndigheter i Australia for deres håndtering av Verdenstrommas ankomst. Den blir nå i Australia frem til 15 november.
